Sharing the new house for the 1st time with granddaughters

An important visit to the new house happened over April school vacation.  To introduce the future house to two of my most important family members…would they like it?  Would they be excited?  Would they be able to visualize the finished product?

Success!

Yes, they liked it.  No, it wasn’t what they imagined but they could no longer remember what they had imagined.  They scampered through the house, met the builder (Charlotte said, “I like Joe), he has many daughters himself so he talked with them comfortably.

We played hide-and-go-seek, finding small closets, nooks and crannies to hide in.  They imagined their bedroom- “can we paint it funky colors, Grammy?!”

In the basement we noted where the ping-pong table will go, along with the train set.

Explored the barn and the woods.

Visited area restaurants, Ripple Pizza for dinner (absolutely packed with Chandler Music Hall concert-goers attending the Béla Fleck's BEATrio ending event that evening) then breakfast at the Windy Lane Bakery. And of course the world’s best creamee at Silloway Maple just up the road.

A stop at the Whale Tail sculpture by Jim Sardonis with a view of the Green Mountains down into Randolph.

They can’t wait for the house to be finished.
